Date with Vienna Part II

Great city should have the same qualities as a charming companion. It must be able to get one’s attention, inspire and, at the same time, challenge and amuse. Sometimes it pampers us with its glory, next time it trips at our feet, when least prepared.

When we love and hate the city at the same time, it’s a happy and healthy relationship.

My ideal day in the city may start at the busy market. I love to relish all its colours and tastes! I probably stop at the random stall and discuss quality of the cheese with a marketer, then move to the next one, selling hummus and olives. When I feel replete and a bit tired of multilingual small talks, I continue walking towards historical streets.

Trying to avoid shopping areas, I choose calm tiny streets to admire the city and some of its sartorial inhabitants. But even though, I do nearly anything to avoid possible expensive temptations, I feel more happy than guilty, when finally succumb the chic design of that bag. Now, I don’t need anything else, just walk little more…or… maybe…short stop for a cake? No! No? Oh,…actually, yes!

Happily Ever After

Later that day I earn the honking of the upset driver, when I slowly cross the street, turning my head towards something that just got my attention. Subsequently, a cyclist almost knocked me down. I curse the day and city, but I forget all the bad, soon.

There is a beautiful sunset and a promising evening coming and I’m looking forward to some art and finishing with a glass of wine.
