Routine is not for me. There are no things I would do every day, same time. I prefer to stay flexible and it’s also necessary, with respect to my work and activities. Nevertheless, I realize, I may not have any routine, but I do have rituals I repeat daily. These rituals became an important part of my well-being and it’s difficult for me to skip them. I’m curious if you can rely on them, too and would love to know, which rituals are important for you.
Having a Coffee
Do I need to add anything? Only when I visited the countries, where good coffee is not so obvious and my espresso machine was far away, I realized the life without coffee is bit less joyful. Having a cup of coffee is like going for the holiday and back, in just few minutes. I like to prepare it myself in the work break as much as I like to enjoy, in a busy cafeteria. When I’m working in the co-working center, I always chat with people for few minutes, while preparing my coffee. So, this is also a good opportunity to socialize a bit and talk with some smart individuals, which is not only fun, but often very enriching, too.
Dressing up
This is an essential for me, to dress up, every day and under any circumstances. Just like life is too short to drink bad coffee, the same can be applied to the dress choice. I remember once I read the story about a young girl in a refugee camp. She looked super stylish and she said, that dressing up and taking care about herself even in those terrible conditions helps her mentally, to stay motivated. I could totally understand.
Regardless, if I’m going to be at home office all day long, planning to meet someone, taking a walk or I’m just making a dinner, I see no reason to wear anything else than the outfit I like. After all, it takes just the same time to put on something stylish, as to put on something ugly. When I’m dressed up, I’m mentally ready for anything that is ahead, too. I also wear some jewelry, every single day.
“Dress like you are going somewhere better later,” is one of my favorite quotes.
Putting on Fragrance
Jasmine oil perfume has the power to cheer me up immediately, just by putting few drops of the liquid on my skin. It became my next ritual few years back and it’s just same obvious as taking a shower, for me.

Walking by the Water
The photos in this post were taken at the Playa Famara at Lanzarote. I don’t have to explain, what a flood of endorphins I felt, when coming to that place. The ocean has a magical power, indeed, but if there is no ocean nearby, the river or lake can recharge me with a sufficient amount of energy, too. If I want to take a break, I aim to the water, to breath and smell it. Sometimes I may not be in a mood for an exercise, but I do take a walk by the water at least several times a week, if not every day.
Seeking the Beauty
All my rituals are connected by one thing – beauty. I always take extra effort to have a pretty view during my work, coffee or meal. I find the beauty in details of the streets, houses and interiors, in the movies, in the sounds and music, as well as in people’s styling and outfits. Everywhere and always. I need to be surrounded by the beauty, every day. I don’t want perfection, but beauty is something else.

Beautifully written! I’m missing coffee desperately as I’m trying to minimise my intake (4 cups a day probably isn’t good for my body!). I absolutely love these photos and you’re completely right – the ocean is magical!
