If I should pick one piece of clothes that can make anyone looking instantly chic, regardless their age or gender, I would say, a well fitted trench coat. I’m sure Audrey Hepburn would agree. I know, our globe’s messed up climate reduced the number of days, when the weather is ideal for them, at least in the Central Europe. But there are still many occasions and days, perfect for such a timeless piece.
Stylish Traveller or Business Girl
Moreover, all the stylish globetrotters out there know, that there is nothing better they can wear, when traveling to countries with unstable weather, than a trench coat. Also, at the airports with often an unpredictable air condition, it’s good to throw on a coat or even layer it with a sweater. The fact that you look like a movie star, when going down the stairs from the aircraft, with a fluttering coat, is just a nice bonus.
Trench coat, just like a good blazer, makes me look polished and under control. I must admit, that I personally prefer long ones, however shorter seem more practical to some people. Paired with a short dress, skirt or tight jeans, it creates a perfect silhouette with a touch of mystery.
I always feel a bit more confident and powerful, when wearing one. Like a heroine at a detective or a legal drama. This long trench coat of a beautiful blue-greyish colour could not be missed in my collection.
Classic With a Touch of Rebellion
Like with all the classic pieces, I add a touch of rebellion into otherwise elegant look. Rolled up sleeves, chic pointed mules instead of classical pumps, short-length dress and a playful decoration on the bag. All of that make the whole outfit not looking conservative or boring. I kept it monochromatic this time, and played more with the materials and patterns on the dress and a silk scarf.
If you want to go more casual, feel free to wear jeans, trainers and a white shirt. A long trench coat will be a sophisticated finish, that always works in your favour, I promise.
